Surveillance
& Perimeter Security
Summary
- The LRAD™ system for base perimeter surveillance can transmit voice broadcasts up to 12 km away with a powerful and high clarity of up to 168 dB and can control access to the fuselage within a 700 m radius by emitting special sound waves.
- Broadcasting systems used in general perimeters have attempted to transmit sound over long distances by increasing the output of amplifiers or installing multiple speakers, but they have not been able to secure clarity and have not been effective due to the interference between speakers.
- Recently, the LRAD™ system has been adopted as a solution that addresses both these issues while also adding active deterrence capabilities. Remote situation room operators, lacking immediate, active response capabilities in the event of an incident, have traditionally observed until dispatch. However, the LRAD™ system uses special sonic waves to force targets to retreat, increasing the effectiveness of surveillance operations by shifting from observation to response.
